Camp Kanata Gluten Free Week Recap

Check out this summary of the 2010 Gluten Free Week @ Camp Kanata from Gluten Free Durham.

Unfortunately, I did not make it out to the camp this year - last year I went to camp with Trevor from Bella Monica and cooked dozens of GF pizzas!  However, I was able to donate $360 to the camp this year which was great (since the cost to provide Gluten Free food is about $500 per day).  The funds were raised by $5 donations from those of you who have attended a Gluten Free 101 Class I taught over the last year @ Rosie's Plate.  FYI - look for another one in September - call Rosie's Plate 833-0505 for more information.  Doing some quick math, that means I've taught 72 Gluten Free newbies how to successfully (hopefully) transition to the GF diet - not bad, but there is always more work to be done.

Anyway, I wanted to give a shout out to those area vendors who donated goods or services to this years camp (in no particular order) - Rosie's Plate, Mellow Mushroom, Bella Monica, Custom Choice Cereal, Happy Tummy Baking Co, Whole Foods Gluten Free Bake House, Harmony Farms, Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Kroger, Harris Teeter, and Target.  Thanks for your assistance in helping 30 Gluten Free kids have a "normal" summer camp experience.

Also a thanks to the camp organizers - they do an awesome job!
